First road test… the results

Paul and I decided it was time to road test BeerMap for the first time last night. Well, someone had to try it out didn’t they? We headed to a local area where there are a lot of pubs within a small area so we could really get a feel for how the application worked [...]

Tactile CRM + Resolve RM - Making Beta Life Easy

We’re are one of the few lucky people who have access to both Tactile CRM and the beta of Reslove RM which is a support ticketing system. Combining the two applications allowed us to very easily manage the beta because contacts are shared between the two.
When you send a beta request to us, Resolve RM [...]

Beta Testers Required!

Well, we’re almost at the stage where we will be ready to release a working copy of BeerMap! The problem is that we need people to test BeerMap and start reviewing beers. For these reasons, we have decided to open up a public beta which will be ready shortly.
If you would like to take part [...]

So Many Beers

Isn’t it annoying when you’re visiting an unfamiliar town or city and you know you want beer, you just don’t know which one! Rows of colourful logos are attached to the pumps along the bar, but you don’t recognise any of them or even the breweries! What can you do?!
Well that’s exactly why we are [...]

Welcome to BeerMap

BeerMap is an iPhone app currently being developed by Matt Galloway and Paul Bain.
BeerMap aims to allow you easy access to information about beer, to share reviews, photos and to see what’s going down well around you.
We have had hundreds of ideas about how it might work, and it should be awesome when done! If [...]

The International

So I have not been updating this as much as I should! This is the last of my recent watchings. I love Clive Owen. He is so much fun to watch. However, this was really quite dissapointing. I dont know what was wrong, I think it is that it doesnt really seem to feel resolved [...]

Gran Torino

Everyone should see this film. It was unbelievable. If this really is Clint Eastwoods final acting bow then it is something spectacular to go out with. In places it  is really very very funny, but also moving and sad and beautifully made. It is a gentle but violent film that works so well. I was [...]

Push

I was so excited about seeing this as I have been waiting months since the Sundance festival when it did so well. I think the anticipation didnt help. That is not to say it wasnt good. It was, it just wasnt amazing. The basic idea is fantastic and there is huge hope for a sequel [...]

Valkyrie

I was really expecting to hate this which I think helped in my enjoyment! I found it certainly informative, and by all accounts it is relatively historically accurate except that they exagerated how close they came to success. My big problem with it was how unbelievably american Tom Cruise is. For all that I say [...]

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I was exhausted when I saw this and it is incredibly long so it was perhaps not the best film to see then. I did enjoy it however. It is very beautifully done, stylish and very well acted. It has a lovely pace but you really need to be very relaxed and happy to sit [...]

Moo Cards!

I’ve ordered my first Moo cards today! I chose to upload my own photos and I used 8 photos from my world tour. I hope they turn out good, although I’m sure that they will – here are the photos I used:

Moo MiniCards

My new personal business cards arrived last week from Moo and I think they look quite good! Thanks Moo!

Trixbox Debate

I did some work recently for a client at work who were having issues with their Trixbox system. This involved going on site and deciphering the problem with their network and figuring out exactly what was going wrong. It turned out that all the problems were related to a Trixbox misconfiguration in the sip_nat.conf file [...]

iPhone Paid Applications: Subnet Calc Pro

I have been developing a new version of my iPhone application, Subnet Calc for a few weeks now. I decided to call the new version Subnet Calc Pro as it’s essentially an advanced version of the free one.
In order to sell applications on the App Store for money you have to complete the banking and [...]

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Having watched the last two of these recently I was fully expecting a very shitty mildly entertaining fun film. It was actually much better than I expected. I was thoroughly entertaining, still crappy but not mild. I think if you enjoyed the other two you definatly will enjoy this. Better than the second by far, [...]

New Server!

I’ve just moved this site to a new server so hopefully everything is ok… however if you have a problem please leave a comment on this post and I’ll try to get it sorted!

Frost/Nixon

I think that this is one of the best films I have seen in a very long time. The two lead performances were pretty much all you could notice. Frank Langella was incredible. It is a very emotional film and the performances aid this in an incredible way. Absolutly one to see. A beautiful film.

Yes Man!

Again. This was funny! I dont like Jim Carrey, except for when he does serious like Eternal Sunshine, 23 things like that so I was very suprised by how much I loved this. I love Zoey Deschanel which probably helped. Anyway again with the go see.I dont normally enjoy so many comedies in such a [...]

Role Models

I was very suprised by how much I enjoyed this! I found it soo funny. I have realised I started to put all American comic films under the heading of Ben Stiller isnt funny. This is not Ben Stiller. It is well worth seeing if you want funny without it going too far. Paul Rudd [...]

iPhone Application Update

I’ve had a really good time since I started developing iPhone applications and my first app is now up to version 1.2 which has seen a major change and a couple of minor tweaks and bug fixes compared to version 1.0. When I released it I had no idea about the size of the market [...]

Bride Wars

As chick flicks go, this was very entertaining. Entirely mindless. If it wasnt for the 14 year old brats sitting behind me I would probably have enjoyed it even more. Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson are lovely and thoroughly idiotic in a very entertaining and gently amusing way. If you enjoy chick flicks this is [...]

Slumdog Millionaire

Worth the hype. This is a beautiful, moving and just simply loverly story, beautifully shot and very well acted. I loved every minute of it. Jamal is such a brilliant character because he has suffered so much and yet seems so .. something, im not sure what. Anyway, definatly go see it. Absolutly fantastic.

The Spirit

I saw this two days before it was released, one of the joys of working at a cinema, not that I do anymore but I made the most of it. I actually thought it was pretty good. Dont try to compare it to Sin City or 300, it is very very very funny. Im not [...]

Australia

Ok, so I have become really bad at doing this again, I saw this about a fortnight ago but im gonna give remembering it a go. That isnt a good start. It is memorable! I thought it was fantastic. There was a really annoying man sitting next to me who literally didnt shut up and [...]

Magsafe Charger Melted!

I went out for a the day on Saturday and when I came back I went up to my room to check on how my Macbook was doing with copying some files into iTunes when I noticed that the charger indicator on my Magsafe was orange, meaning charging. It had been plugged in overnight and [...]

Zopa - 1 Month Update

I wrote a while ago about “Zopa - Experimental Investment” and my initial experience and plans to use the service, so just under a month later here is my update of how things are going!
As mentioned in my previous post, my aim was to set an extremely competitive rate of interest in the hope of [...]

Twilight

This is a funny one. I dont hugely like Robert Pattinson and certainly dont understand why the world thinks he is so sexy, I dont think he is a great actor and seeing as he is one of the leads that is a bit of a problem. However, I came out really very satisfied. If [...]

Transporter 3

If you like Jason Statham or the other Transporter films you will love this. If you dont like either of these you probably wont. It is the same film essentially as the other two with a few plot variations. Some wicked fight scenes and a confirmation that Jason Statham is Hard! All in all thoroughly [...]

Inkheart

I really enjoyed this. It is funny, gentle family entertainment. I would say definatly worth watching. It has an impressive cast. Only major problem with it is that I have realised, I really dont like Andy Serkiss. He is annoying and really not that good an actor. He was great as Gollum but I think [...]
